WLL Combine
and League Canceled for 2008 Subject: WLL combine I'm writing to inform you of the fact that the WLL will not commence play in the summer of 2008, but will turn all it's energies to the summer of 2009. I apologize for any effort you have expended to try and get this league off the ground for this summer, but assure you, given the extra time, the WLL in 2009 will be even better. The main reason we could not pull this off for this summer is lack of time for a few ownership groups to get all their ducks in a row. Player interest was not an issue, we had over 150 players signed up for the combine and from what I understand there were many other players who were not registered, but already committed to a team. We launched this idea just prior to Memorial Day. Four weeks was not enough time for everybody to feel comfortable enough in their overall management and coaching groups to make a firm, in writing, commitment. We did have letters of intent from two very strong groups and a verbal commitment from another very strong group. Six other groups were at various levels of commitment, but again did not feel they had enough time to get their strategies worked out. Two groups who were fully committed to us in word had just come on board this past week. We will have a meeting with existing and potential owners/partners in July of 2008 to discuss the WLL moving forward. We have potential teams in North Jeffco, Centennial, Parker, Monument, Denver, Ft. Collins, Westminster, Boulder, and Colorado Springs.
Let's take the unprecedented excitement and momentum
that is already here and use it to further grow the WLL and start
play in June of 2009. Stronger ownership groups, better arena
dates, a better player pool, a longer season, and consequently
a stronger league, the first of its kind in the US, will begin
play in June 2009. We will be able to market to all of the above
for 10 months, primarily through the Mammoth season to attract
individuals that can make the WLL the premier indoor, If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call me. Again, I'm disappointed that the WLL will not begin play in 2008, but am confident the 2009 season will be the beginning of something great. In regards to the combine this Sunday at the Pepsi Center, it will not take place, however, check http://www.coloradoindoorlax.org in regards to a drop in session at the North Jeffco arena between 9:15 - 11:15am this Sunday. Thank you again for your time and effort. Bill Hall Colorado Mammoth
